Music: Summer Music Series - Part 2

For a look back at part 1 of our Summer Music Series - Read Here

Saturday, June 7 – Vegas Magazine Party & Adventure Club

The night starts with the city’s newest venue on the Las Vegas Strip, The Cromwell. Vegas Magazine is hosting a party inside Drai’s which features some of the top artists in the world–and a stellar view of the city while you’re taking it all in. The party is open bar, so we decide to loosen up and enjoy ourselves. Musical guest, Adventure Club is providing the sounds for the evening. And I don’t think my $3 pocket square from Topshop has ever seen so much fun.

Thursday, June 19 Kygo & Dash Berlin

I find my friend resting in a lounge chair that overlooks the Las Vegas Strip from the Cosmopolitan. “It’s the best seat in the house”, proclaims my friend. Kygo is playing a serene opening set before Dash Berlin takes the stage. He mixed Christina Perri, John Legend, and other soulful acts within his set, setting him apart from his fellow house music DJs. Dash Berlin however, was anything but calm. The crowd, or, the “Dashers”, as they are called, danced until the very last note.

Friday, June 20 – Cults & American Cream

The Cults and American Cream just scream ‘summer time’ music. Las Vegas has been waiting for years to see the Cults and they finally came downtown to play a show. They showcased their mellow tunes with a spectacular lighting display to a playful crowd inside Container Park. I also find that you can buy $1 waters at the Jerky store inside the park instead of paying for a $6 Fiji at the bar–plus tip.

Saturday, June 22 – Axwell & Ingrosso

These two talents can put on a show. Inside LIGHT Nightclub at Mandalay Bay, Axwell & Ingrosso came out with so much energy I had to drink 3 energy drinks just to keep up. It was amazing to see them perform live after watching their documentary “Leave the World Behind”. Downside, I’m still awake from the excessive energy drink consumption.

Sunday, June 23 – RL Grime, Diplo & Skrillex

Las Vegas is still talking about this night. It broke all the rules and all the records. I knew it was going to be a party for the books so I ventured out on my own. A big thanks to the staff at XS inside the Wynn for taking care of a lone writer. This party had the biggest attendance of any Las Vegas nightclub party (that’s saying a lot), and Diplo and Skrillex played together for a total of 4 hours. Those are Dave Matthews numbers.

Wednesday, June 25 – Ekoh & Girl Talk

Life is Beautiful released their line-up for their Fall Music & Food Festival. If you haven’t seen this massive line-up. Go to www.lifeisbeautiful.com immediately. This line up is so huge, they had to throw a party for it. A hometown hip-hop artist that goes by Ekoh opened up the Brooklyn Bowl crowd for a special surprise guest; that surprise guest would be Girl Talk finally coming out of hiding.

Thursday, June 26 – Bleachers

Current Fun member, ex-Steel Train member, Jack Antonoff came back to the Cosmopolitan with his new band, Bleachers. Their album hasn’t dropped yet, but from the talks of the underground, their song “Rollercoaster” might be the indie hit of the summer.

Friday, June 27 – Spoon & Alie Layus

Finally! I get to see the band that brought us the classic album, “Transference”. Spoon put on one of the better rock and roll shows I’ve seen in a while inside the Brooklyn Bowl. This concert had a great crowd. Afterwards, I dined with some friends and decided to swing by the Wynn to say hi to our friend Alie Layus. She puts on a massive top hit DJ set at Tryst and allowed me to watch it backstage with her security. I got to admit, it was a bit surreal.

Sunday, July 6 – Tiesto

Let’s end this with a pool party put on by the man himself, Tiesto at MGM’s Wet Republic. Coming at the end of the 4th of July Weekend; the only thing I regret not doing is wearing the new North Carolina handmade OLE MASON JAR Oxford. You would think that wearing an Oxford to a pool party may seem crazy–but in 110F temperature, shield from the fierce sun is of most importance in this desert heat. A private cabana helps too.

Be sure to check out what we’re listening to at the OLE MASON JAR headquarters in our playlist below. We’ll be back soon with a documentary featuring the band Almost Normal. Thank you guys so much!

Until next time,

Taj
